Boring

Heard on a tele-interview of W Somerset Maugham, one of my favorite authors and story tellers.

"Every novel has its dull moments. It is impossible for a novel to be a entertaining all the time, unless it is really short."

Hmmmm... Isn't that true for life as well?

Life can be very boring sometimes. And yes, unless it is a short life, it really can't be inspiring, stimulating, interesting at all times. In other words, it is okay to be bored.

Want and Need

What you want is one thing. What you need is quite another.

Vertex ravelt

Traveling to the Vertex - where it all began - is much more interesting to me than to traverse the divergent lines

Inspiring people

It is not the smartest that inspire us, it is the closest who do.

Intimidation

All new stuff is intimidating. When new.

Then, it becomes comfortable. When old.

Then it becomes intimate. When we are older.

Then it becomes a part of us. Then we move on.

Scars

Scar tissue endures more than skin.

The smoke screen of beauty

Beauty creates a smoke screen that our mind gets blinded by.

Do not settle!

A Marathi Saying - "Kaheel tar tuppashi nahi tar raheel upashi"

Literal Translation: If I have to eat, I will only eat with ghee, or I will continue to fast. (Fast is the hindi fast. Meaning abstaining from food)

Life truth translation: I will settle for nothing less than what I deserve.

Then, Now and Later

We carry our corpses on our shoulders and our new selves in our wombs, all at once, as we walk today.

Perspective Changes with Execution Time

Everything appears easier than what it is,
From afar.

Long winded....

Sometimes, I am terribly long winded. I know I am being long winded, but can't get myself to stop gassing. Probably the "old fart" nickname suits me after all :)

Sticky negatives!

Negative people stick. We spend far more time trying to prove the negative people wrong, rather than being thankful for the people who love us, are appreciative of what we are, and supportive of our dreams. Heck, we do not even believe the positives because of what the negatives tell us!

I have had my fair share of negative people, but I am blessed that I have had a well of positive energy gifted to me by my parents. Despite that, I have trouble ignoring negative people, though over the years I have managed to get better at it.

For people who have been given negative thoughts from their parents, their life is largely spent in just dodging the "I am no good." thought.

If I don't sing my song, who will?

Passing the Parcel

There are many of us who hesitate to take gifts - I do not mean the material kind - but gifts of involvement, love, advice, hospitality, help etc from others, because they are worried that they would not be able to pay them back.

I think it is gracious to take. Just as gracious it is to give.

When we take gifts, of the kinds mentioned, we allow ourselves to be grateful to the other, and promise to ourselves to bestow back the same gifts - not to the same person, because one can never really repay anything that has been received in gratitude - but by giving the same gifts to some other person who needs it.

In short, gifts given are to be passed on. To the other. Like passing the parcel. Take from one, give it to the other.

Receive love, affection, kindness. In turn give away love, affection and kindness to some other person who needs it. And let the gratitude stay.

When someone denies taking the gifts I have to offer, that person is as guilty of stopping the flow of gratitude and gifts, as the person who does not pass the gratitude to the next person.

My first...Thought of the Day

You know you are growing old when you start understanding - really understanding - the meaning of the word "Old Fart".
